Bryce Canyon

Last night after I wrote in my blog, we watched "Dancing With the Stars". Two skinny guys were dancing with a woman. Len Goodman said "You're like two skinny french fries chasing the ketchup". Whatever that means.

Nana has been bugging Poppa to sell the trailer and get a motorhome. Today Poppa surprised here with a new motorhome. Boy, did he surprise her!

Today we took at 238 mile road trip to Bryce Canyon - whew! I'm exhausted!

There are two roads in Zion National Park:
- the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive we toured yesterday, using the shuttle and walking.
- the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway we drove to get here on Monday.
We used the Mt. Carmel Hwy to get to Bryce Canyon today, and got to enjoy it a lot more because we were going uphill and weren't towing a trailer. It's beautiful:

This is "Checkerboard":

On the way, Nana and Poppa wanted to stop here for lunch, but I didn't like what they were serving:

Bryce Canyon National Park is amazing. (I'm trying to cycle through my superlatives, but I'm going to run out.) We got to a new record elevation for the trip today: 9,115 feet above sea level. It's really hard to breath up here.

The canyon was named for Ebenezer Bryce who raised cattle nearby. When asked about the canyon, he said "It's an awful place to loose a cow."

On the way out of the park, a pronghorn antelope ran across the road in front of us, and then stopped to eat some grass. I wanted to get out and eat some pronghorn, but Poppa told me that pronghorns can run 60 miles an hour. My cousins, the cheetahs, can go 70 miles an hour, but Tiggers can't go nearly fast enough to catch a pronghorn.

This was in Red Canyon, just a few miles from Bryce. It's called a "hoodoo":

Don't expect spectacular photos from Nana and Poppa (except the ones I'm in). You can probably find lots of professional photos on line of all the places we go.
