Island in the Sky

See, mommies and daddies - they're never too young to go camping:

Poppa and I got tired of cereal for breakfast, so now we make sure there are leftovers from last night's dinner. Yesterday morning we had steak and pinto beans. This morning we had pork tenderloin and potatoes.

Canyonlands National Park is a huge mesa that was carved into three districts by the Colorado and Green Rivers. Today we went to the Island in the Sky district. An SCA intern named "Alli" (2 'l's) talked to us about rock art and explained the difference between petroglyphs and pictographs.

The amazing Shafer Trail goes down almost 2,000 feet to the Colorado River:

When we went past this tree, I thought it was dead. Then Nana told me to look at the top:

Poppa wanted to hike down to the bottom to find the other half of that big rock:

The hikes were pretty hard, so I sat down for a rest:

When we got back to the trailer, Poppa was ready for a nice cold beer. He didn't get the beer with the picture of a fish. He said that since we're in Utah he'd get this instead (whatever that means):
